We have contributed to progress in the rights of single-mother families!
One of the most important demands of single-mother families, represented among others by AMSPE — the Association of Single Mothers by Choice — consists of extending birth leave so that the child has the same amount of care time as in a two-parent family.
After a long legal journey, and despite the initial rejection of the request by the Supreme Court in March 2023, the Constitutional Court finally declared it unconstitutional in November 2024 and recognised the same amount of care time for children in single-mother families.
The application of this ruling in open court proceedings is currently underway, and it remains pending for the legislature to reform current legislation so that the right is recognised.
